New Hack: Add an Album Dropdown to a Photo Page

Hey everyone; we just posted a hack that adds a dropdown menu of albums on your photo detail page, and if you choose the option, adds it to your album automatically. While the interface is a bit rough, it should give developers an idea of the APIs we use to display the album listings as well as the POST url and parameters we use to add a photo to an album. I'm sorry if this is trivial, but the guide along the code suggests I add the javascript code in the tracking section of the site?

I even tried it and it didn't work. Could you please elaborate?

I realized the problem, but still trying to solve it. The request to retrieve the network albums is returning zero results. See attached image.

I have now 3 albums on the network, one is mine. Any idea why?

No it works for your albums and you can add any pix uploaded to your network yours and any others

Hi, not sure this is a bug or just a problem with my network. After adding the script, I found I could no longer delete photos or add new tags. Have deleted the script for the time being, hope there is a fix for it.

HI hack working perfectly just made a test by adding a pix to an album then adding tags to the pix added to album and then deleting pix from album all ok but if you add a pix to an album i am not sure that u can delete the pix directly without removing it from the album first

Do you have centralized or decentralized code ?? if decentralized have you updated it with the merging tool .?

yes - I have the same problem. Was not aware of it before. It is still nice if you want to throw together an album as moderator - for that it is great and I will put the code back in. But for general use it seems to be too shaky and cannot be recommended. Sorry for being too quick with my recommendation - and thanks for mentioning it Susan.

Hi Susan, as the Javscript code is indeed a true hack, thanks for understanding. I'll take the code offline soon for further investigation, but in the meantime, can you give me a little bit more detail on what happens when you try to delete photos or add new tags? And what browser you're using as well?

Hi thanks to all who answered! My network is centralized, but I have made changes to the CSS (right alignment for Hebrew). I'm using Explorer 7 as the Hebrew css doesn't work well in Firefox.
Ernie when clicking on the add new tags and delete photo links, almost nothing happens, it's as though the links point to the page they appear on. Similar to what happens if here is a hash tag in a link instead of a URL.

I get an error entering it into the Analytics box saying it's not a valid analytics code. What am I doing wrong?
