I really need to remove this feature from my networks. I have been asking for a toggle that would allow NC's to remove it, but to no avail. For more information, you can see this thread.
While I understand that it is on Ning's roadmap to move this feature out of the Ningbar, I need to know if it is possible to do now if I request the source code and modify it myself.
Has anyone else successfully removed this? I could not find anything in the discussions. Thanks you for any feedback.
That will remove the profile section too though, which will remove some functionality for your members. You don't need source code access to try that out. There isn't a way to just remove those two right hand panels and retain the profile panel as well.
Finally, an answer :-) While not perfect because it blanks out the profile, it will accomplish what I am needing, which is a way to close the door to outside networks (from within mine).
I do hope that Ning does move these features out of the Ningbar and down into the network soon. In the meantime, I will give this a try and hope it doesn't disrupt the functionality for my members too badly.
Scott came across a situation / page where this does not work;
When you go to the MyFriends page, http://www.xxxxxxxx.com/friends/nickname, and then click on the friends icon in the Ningbar - the friends across all social networks and other networks shows up again.
Is this using a different CSS or something? How can we disable it here as well? Thanks for your help. This has been a ray of hope on this issue.
to hide the title; just doing the .xn_75 element would mean people couldn't respond to friend requests. This is completely independent of the page you're on in a network. Clicking on the friends icon in the Ningbar at any time will load up this panel.
The Invite Friends still appears on the Ning Bar and this would be OK except the default text for the message is not in any of the language files and the URL given for the website does not reflect premium services (ie the format is "network'.ning.com NOT the redirected URL). How can I change this message?
That panel tab is appearing because you've commented out a chunk of js with the comment 'gives error in Opera and I don't have panel additions'. If you revert that change or modify the code instead, it won't show up.
