Hi Shyam,

Unfortunately there's no way to attach files to pages. If you've already attached files using the forum, you can link to those files from a page though.

Thanks,
Phil
Ah yes, that's good enough for me for the moment!

Thanks, Phil.
Susan,

I stand corrected on the anyUserCanCreatePage variable! If you switch that to 1, then any user on the network can create a new page. I will update the main instructions to that effect.

Thanks,
Phil
Will this work if I have not disconnected my network off of the source code? I'd like to maintain that connection, but would like to add pages.

Second part of this question: So on my new page, I'd like to query the data - example: Count of Members with Gender = Male. What includes, etc. are required on my new page? Do you have a standard 'blank page' that is a standard HTML page that would include the styles, header, etc.?

Forgive me if I'm asking something elementary. I'm one of those hackers that just needs a few code samples to get started - but I'm having a tough time finding some code samples! (I did get SFTP access tonight and I'm proud of that! Even though when I look at the folders/files list, I don't see listed the directories on my network!).

Thanks!
Hi Douglas,

Yes, this works without needing to request full access to your network's code. The bad news is that the pages don't execute PHP; they only display html (fully dressed with the headers etc), so you won't be able to do queries in them. If you wanted to get creative though, you could put a PHP script in your root directory that executed your PHP and output the results, and then you could call that as an iFrame from a new page.

Thanks,
Phil
How do I prevent users from commenting on the newly created page. My hopes are to create an "About" page that will be used for information about my network.

Thanks a lot!!

Marco :-)
Hi Marco,

In the widget-configuration.xml file you can set the value for the usersCanComment tag to 0.

Thanks,
Phil
Hi, thanks for this. It works great. I've created a couple extra tabs/pages for my site without any difficulty or hitches.

I'm curious to know, however, if there's a way to create a tab that, rather than link to a page I've created in Ning, can link directly to an outside page or URL.

I'd like the user to be able to simply click the tab and be taken straight to an old blog site.
Thanks Phil - I missed that while setting up the tabs. I appreciate quick response and help.

Marco
Hi robert there is a way to do that, it's a hack using the google tracking code box - the instructions were posted a while ago here http://blog.ning.com/2007/09/adding_new_tabs_to_your_networ.html by Kyle Ford
Hello Phil,

I'm looking at the various files in the instance folder, among others, and I could not find a way of modifying the sing-on page that will allow me to add a link or create an "about" page so that potential users of my network can learn more about it. It would be very similar to what facebook has at the bottom of their signon page.

Thanks again for your response.

Marco :-)
In the managment interface click on "Network Information" Anything you type in the "Description" Field will appear in the signin page. However if yours is a private site non-members won't be able to see the about page. I solved this by adding a link to an about page hosted elsewhere. You can see the example here http://gesher.ning.com
