Spam on Blog Feature

I am getting a lot of spam on my network through comments and blogs. Is there any way to prevent this? G-damn spammers -_-

I have deleted it and banned the member in question from my network but would like to know if there are better preventative measures.

I just can't believe Ning allows all members to make blog posts!

Can I make a post on Ning's own blog?

I know what does not work. Go into Manage - Manage Memebers - Manage Roles. Create a new role with no features checked. Then assign all members to that role.... well it does not work, they still have a link to make a blog post.

Best you can do seems to be under Manage - Feature Controls, check "Approve Blog Posts before they appear".

So I have GOOD members, making posts all the time, and wondering why I am deleting them. ...Its my network, I am the only one going to make any blog posts...

I have been in Ning for like one month, and I am telling you this...perhaps someone with experience will explain why this happened.

Your'e welcome, but this is still not a proper fix at all.

Also, as you noticed, there should be a spam filter like ASKIMET in place to make things easier.

You could remove the "Add a Blog Post" link with:

I've had bloggers complaining that there is no pop-up to alert them that their blog post will be "pending approval". Ning please add this feature?

You could just add a note to the top of your page explaining this..then everyone knows..or put it in FAQ's.

That code I gave would go in the Analytics textbox, no need for source code access... best wishes!
