I've tried this with backup.php and backup-content.php file types and receive and error message when I try to view the file.

This is the error message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '}' in /apps/chichimodels/backup.php on line 108

Can anyone explain why this is happening?

Thanks,
Liz
Hi Liz, Something happened when pasting the code here in the forum, the first line of the code shouldnt be all togheter like <?php$appOwner... but separated by a linebreak like:
<?php
$appOwner...

Please try again fixing that and if it still gives you errors follow this link.
I would like to know how a backup should be restored.

And if it is possible to restore the backup on a different network.
I haven’t translated any of my networks but I’m about to start -- actually, it’s my wife, Sueko, who’s going to do the actual translation but I’m the one that will maintain the networks.

The problem lies in that last word: networkS. The way Ning is set up, it looks like if you go to all the work to translate the 27 pages shown in the Language Editor, you need to retype in all those pages for each network. This is definitely NOT a good idea.

Our Ning networkS are going to run in conjunction with WordPress blogS which use the GNU gettext localization framework which creates separate language files which can be used for multiple installations. This way the work of translation can be shared across networkS.

Does Ning have any other way to translate as a separate fils? Can the translation from one network be exported and then imported to another network?
Is it possible to export profile questions? The only options in the generator are photo, video, topic and blog post.
Hi Frank,

There's an export mechanism in the Members section of the Manage tab that will export all of your users and the answers to their profile questions to a .csv file.

Thanks,
Phil
Thanks Phil

I just realized that my administrator requested code awhile back and didnt get that upgrade! How does one go about merging the code and start receiving upgrades?

Frank
Hi Frank,

If you haven't made any changes to the network code, then you can request to be put back on centralized code here. That will take away code access and give you instant updates. You can follow that up by requesting code access again later at any time. If you've made significant changes to your code, you will probably want to wait until we release our helper tool for turning a three way code merge into a two way code merge. That's currently being tested and should be made public in 2 or 3 weeks.

Thanks,
Phil
Thanks!
Hi Phil,

I have created about 8 additional pages and one additional forum (widget id's 500-509 :)). In order to ensure I back up the content provided by members from them do I need to add anything to the above?

e.g. :

$contentTypes = array('Photo','Video','Topic','BlogPost',["Forum" or "Poets Corner"] [etc.]);

best
Pete
Hi Pete,

The additional forum instance is handled by 'Topic', so you can add 'Page' to the list in order to also grab the contents of the pages you've added.

Thanks,
Phil
