Life in Euro Interactiva
You can’t really bottle what it is to be Euro Interactiva. The truth is, the moment ‘E I A-ness’ am committed to paper, it’s already started changing. That’s the beauty of the beast. It’s alive, it’s organic. So, the best we can hope to do is put some framework around the practical aspects of Euro Interactiva success.
We all believe in the same thing: shaking up markets where consumers are getting a bad deal and stepping in and giving them a better deal by being fun, innovative and competitively challenging. And we all like to give quality, value for money and brilliant customer service.
And we’ve got over 250 (and counting) employees working across the Group… They are in offices, on shop floors, in call centres, gyms… They’re in offices, schools and restaurants… They’re all over the world, from Greece to Australia…Oh, and they’re all different.

Our Partners:

Euro Interactive sources goods and services from many places and trades in many more. This complex network of suppliers and partners is an integral part of our business and we see it as an extension of the Euro Interactiva brand and business ethos.
We always seek out suppliers who reflect the same values as Euro Interactiva. This means respecting the environment and the people we work with. During 2009 we formalized our thoughts into a Code of Conduct for suppliers and buyers.
The new Code of Conduct has three parts:
• Human rights
• Environments concern
• Animal surviving
• Business ethics
Human rights – lab our relations
One of Euro Interactiva strengths is its people. Respect, freedom to act and fairness are fundamental to the Euro Interactiva way of working. We strive for equal opportunities for all present and potential employees. This thinking extends to our suppliers!.
We aim to employ people who reflect the diverse nature of their society and culture. Staff should feel and be valued regardless of age, sex, disability, sexual orientation, race, color, religion, marital status or ethnic origin.
• Staff should feel free to join or leave the supplier within the agreed terms of notice.
• There should be no discrimination against anyone for their membership or affiliation to any trade unions or political parties.
• It should be understood that sexual, physical or mental harassment of employees is unacceptable.
• Procedures need to be in place to respond to accusations of workplace discrimination, harassment and victimization.
• An effective employee grievance procedure should be in operation, with the policy properly communicated to staff.

Human rights - clean, healthy and safe working conditions
• Our suppliers need to provide and maintain a safe working environment for employees by minimizing foreseeable risks in the workplace.
• Suppliers’ staff should receive relevant training and equipment to ensure their safety.
• Basic hygiene is a must with clean toilets and clean drinking water.

Human rights - clear and fair terms of employment
• Easy to read employment contracts should be in place for all permanent staff with particular clarity in regard to wage levels. Contracts should be read to those who cannot read by a third party.
• Employees have the right to freedom of association, including the right to join a recognized union where this is allowed within national law. Where it is not allowed, suppliers should facilitate another form of representation.
• Suppliers will need to be able to comply with all relevant legislation.
• Working hours should not be excessive. They should comply with the industry and national guidelines where they exist. Suppliers should aim to have, on average, a maximum 48 hour week with one day off. Overtime should be definitely be voluntary!

Human rights – NO CHILD LABOUR
Euro Interactiva is against the use of child lab our and believes its elimination is in the best interests of children.

A child is regarded as someone under the age of (14)15(depended). A higher minimum age of at least 18 should be set for hazardous work.

Environmental concern
Our suppliers need to show consideration for minimizing their negative effect on the environment.

Euro Interactiva will seek an assurance that suppliers have an understanding of their environmental impact. In particular, we will focus on demonstrable improvement in:
• Minimizing CO2. emissions
• Minimizing resources used to prosper.
• A positive contribution to the environment (e.g. elimination of waste).

Business ethics
This is a sensitive issue. In many cases no code of practice exists and the prevailing social and political context will vary.

Euro Interactiva is opposed to corruption and will deal with all suppliers in an open and reasonable way. We will:
• Respect supplier’s confidentiality
• Pay to terms
• Give feedback to unsuccessful suppliers
• Not abuse our buying-power
• adhere to our policy on accepting business gifts or hospitality
• not discriminate on the basis of supplier location, size or maturity
Be sensitive to the full impact of withdrawing Virgin business

So how do you know which Euro Interactiva business would be most suited to you? Well the chances are, if you’re a Euro Interactiva sort of person, you could work in any of them. Not all of our businesses have their own careers sites, but this guide will give you a clearer picture of what opportunities are available across the Group.

We need to get personal. If you could only choose one of the following statements to describe yourself, which statement would it be?

The Euro Interactiva Group has dramatically scaled up its involvement in combating global climate change by making a massive commitment to invest EUR 1 Million in renewable energy over the next twenty years. This commitment will be delivered through a number of different channels:
• Doing what we do best
we are launching successful new businesses that will help creating renewable energy sources.
• Mobilizing our staff and customers
we are launching a fun and simple campaign that makes it easy for staff and customers to understand how they can get involved and help fight climate change.
• Investing in “social businesses”
With this, all proceeds go back into further work to preserve our environment and support economic development. For example: WESI is currently reviewing opportunities for micro-production of bio-fuel in villages and townships in South Africa. Projects like this will not only protect the environment, but also create jobs and have significant health benefits. We are also becoming increasingly active at an operational level within each company. It is in our nature to want to be as efficient as possible. We try to protect and preserve the environment in which we operate - at the very least, we comply with relevant legislation and monitor our compliance. We aim to minimize the environmental impact of our day-to-day operations, and to address long-term, sustainable improvement beyond short-term fads and gimmicks.

Project Aware

Project Aware is a project that aims to embed responsible business practice throughout the Euro Interactiva Group. It ensures that we manage our impact on society and the environment through our operations, products and supply chain, as well as continue to do the best we can for our customers and employees.

Virgin's responsibility

Today’s heightened interest in the role of business in society has partly been prompted by increased sensitivity to and awareness of environmental and ethical issues. Issues such as environmental damage and the improper treatment of workers have been highlighted in the media and the pressure on business to play a role in social and environmental issues is bound to grow.
At Euro Interactiva we share our customers’ growing concern. We have not only a huge responsibility but also an excellent opportunity to make a difference through our businesses.
Project Aware is about much more than the minimization of risk. We recognize that responsible business practice can provide ample opportunity for innovation – a key pillar of our brand – and facilitate the development of new products and services as well as access new markets.
At Euro Interactiva, we’ve always tried to act sensitively and responsibly. Project Aware is a renewal of our effort to make responsible business practice an integral part of the Euro Interactiva culture – ensuring it is part of every individual’s role and responsibility.

How Project Aware was born
Before establishing Novus Vitam (the independent charitable arm of the Euro Interactiva Group), employees were asked how they would like to see Euro Interactiva support and become involved in communities around the world.
People expressed great enthusiasm about all the brilliant things that could be achieved in the community. However, there was also a sense that we needed to ‘get our house in order’ and lay the right foundations for launching more externally-facing projects.

This is how Project Aware was born. In many ways it can be considered Euro Interactiva answer to Corporate Social Responsibility. The word ‘Aware’ expresses the need for us to take stock of our own social and environmental impact before establishing further commitments and initiatives.

What does it look like?

Project Aware isn’t just about tackling the big social and environmental issues of the day. It’s also about making sure that we take a duty of care and do the best for our:
• People
Treatment and welfare of our current and future
• Partners Our ethics regarding how we choose our suppliers and how we work with them
• Customers
Being the consumers champion, thinking about the inclusivity of our products and services
• Communities Using time, resource and business expertise to support communities around the world
• environment
Minimizing the environmental impact of our operations to address a long-term, sustainable future
Project Aware isn’t a policy on a shelf. We want it to be lived and breathed by every member of staff so that we know Euro Interactiva companies across the world are constantly striving to meet and exceed their responsibilities as good corporate citizens.

Project Aware isn’t a separate head office function since we strongly believe that responsible business practice can only be truly achieved through its integration into every area and level of the business.

This mirrors the structure at Euro Interactiva Management’s office, where Group Directors and members of the Board sit on a Project Aware Steering Committee. This seniors and highly influential group of people provide leadership and direction for Project Aware.

Over the last year or so we have spent huge amounts of energy taking stock of our people, customers, partners, communities and the environment. We have given particular focus to our partners and the environment and you can find out more about these in the relevant sections.
