Ning Developer Network

IMM

Google Map member overlay

Looks like Spencer at widgetlab has found a very cool tool available on the net:

http://www.gpsvisualizer.com

I created a google map that works on gosvisualiser and then viewed source and copied the source. I am now trying to add an iframe to my site as they describe here:

http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/faq.html#section:google

using the following:

I added my google maps api key in the place gps tell you to on their source file and then uploaded the file to Ning as "mymap.html"

However, when I try to see the iframe on my site i get the following strange wording:

"We're sorry, this site can't be embedded in a frame.

If you're trying to set up your own domain for your Ning Social Network,
please click here for more information on how to set it up properly.

Or, click here to go to the original site."

and it then has the html source below it.

I am a complete idiot when it comes to tech stuff but I know I am close.

Anyone know what I am missing?

I tried to set this up on my test site, and I think I ran into the same problems you did.

I'm not quite sure why the page doesn't render as HTML when it is served - it's like a text file.

I'm not sure how much help we'll be able to provide, as we're not familiar with the service, but I'll ask at HQ for you.

Hello Peter!

There are some issues when the social network application is embedded in iframes. As a result of these issues we prevent any files in your network's file system from being displayed in an iframe. This is the error message that you're seeing.

You can work around this, though, with a simple hack. Remove the </html> from the end of the page you'd like to include in the iframe.

Cheers!
Mike
