Creating/Managing Private Groups & Discussions

While we have a public group, we also need the ability to create private groups & discussions that can be: (1) set up by us, where we appoint a moderator (2) the moderator can lead discussion within this group, but other members can post & discuss; (3) but all the content & discussion is private - only for the members of that specific group. Any one out there know how this can be done on Ning? I assume it would be custom coding. In that case, has anyone done anything like this & can give us a quote?

I am not an expert by ANY means but I think you add the groups feature to your main page and then actually add a group ... then there will be prompts about making it private. If you want to appoint a moderator while in the group hit the manage members and you can assign another "administrator. I hope that helps. I just did it on my site

Are you sure about this? I'm also trying to create a private group, but it appears discussions can be seen by non-group members although it takes group membership to reply to the group. I'd like to setup groups that are completely private to all but group members. Is that possible?
