anyone know how to add ratings to forum threads and forum comments?

hey - please don't offer paid services - i know what's available.
i already have a new feature that's a clone of forum and i want to add ratings for it.

so if anyone knows about the ratingshelper, or about how to add ratings to a content object, or has any code that uses the ratings helper it would be greatly appreciated.
