Creating relationship between website news items and Ning forum discussions

I'd like to use Ning platform as our forum for discussion on our news and articles, so I basically want to provide a link from article "Article Title 1234" to a NING page that creates a new forum discussion for that article. I'd then like to reverse the data back into the original article when there are entries by RSS/XML. Can anyone help or point to some good posts?

Thanks Derrick, before I embark on engaging devs, do you think it would be physically possible to send the request from an ASP page to NING using a similar ASP method outlined in that helper file you posted.
