It's becoming unbearable! Help! We want all new members to become friends of the creator and our community manager. In the onAccept() method of Index_MembershipHelper class, we call createFriendRequest() as demonstrated by the stock code. However, it generates a request of the creator to accept/decline it for each member. As we grow rapidly we spend too much time accepting requests! This needs to be automated fully. How can we do this? Thanks.
I think this is out of your reach for now Ted. The functions in the Ning bar are implemented in code that you don't have access to. This is changing - messaging is coming into the network-proper - and I understand the friends code will follow, but it's not there right now.
Admins can message all members, and vice-versa. What is the need to have a friend relationship with each member?
Ya, I figured that'd be the case. It's important to give new members an initial friend, especially when they sign-up without an invitation. This is just community management 101 and good karma.
I can understand Ning's position trying to prevent developers from hanging themselves, but we're extremely serious about feature enhancements and proper functionality, so we're constantly banging into Ning limitations these days. I wish we had more control. But I am very happy with the comprehensiveness and general reliability of the code and network.
I too am interested in this feature. Please let me know when the tutorial is ready.
Thanks

I would also be very interested, as the "message all friends" feature could be abused - if I'm everyone's friend, I get to see any abuse / spam and can deal with it.
This is going to be great to track spam from "Message all Members" and one other thing if also "Auto Comment" could come into place to welcome New members cause welcome everyone by putting a comment is now my daily job i can even put a comment with my eyes closed cause i know which position each alphabet is at. :)
