"Site Editor" going away - Must use SFTP or WebDav to access your network's filesystem after Saturday 5/17/2008

For those of you unfamiliar with the "Site Editor", this was a web based file manager used to manipulate/create/delete files for Ning networks. To help improve security and prevent Network Creators from accidentally deleting files from their networks, we will be disabling the "Site Editor" interface this coming weekend.

Going forward, you must use SFTP or WebDav to view and make changes to your network's file system.

Cheers!

Keep the feature of site editor! It's user friendly! By not keeping it you are forcing those who want it simple to learn more stuff. This will push the newbies away! Keep it simple and user friendly....I thought that was what Ning was all about?
I can see the "view source code" (http://www.ning.com/view-source.html?appUrl=YOURNETWORK)
is still there! That's very good as I relied on it for certain features.

The problem is that it's terribly ugly to see (at least on my FireFox 3). Do you if this will be fixed? Please don't remove this feature, I love it! :)
Hi there, I see now Ning is Using WebDav & Stfp.

PLEASE GUYS, i want to use the old Source editor cause for me its much easier & its online, I dont understand this Sftp & Webdav, they're too Complicated, please birng back or give me a way of using the old Editor
So now that the web site editor is no more.. how can we setup pages to act as bots?!

:( :( :(
Another great point mike!
I am afraid there is no way to setup your bot scripts in this current release, this is clearly a bug, thanks for the report and sorry about the trouble.
Here is the bug referrence just so we don't loose track of it: #7930.
In addition to that, please send an email to support with your issue please.
He is a mistake!
On my new engines measured is not LIB library?
this sucks that ning disabled it i mean look how many people are saying bring it back you should listen to them and bring it back people liked it and it was a easy way to get access to your networks source code and i think you need to bring it back and a lot of people do to.
There is a very experimental alternative replacement for the old site editor I made last Sunday, you can install it on your network (at your own risk, it's pretty alpha code, not ready for prime time and most definitely not recommended for any mission critical network without prior backup and definitely not supported nor endorsed by Ning in any ways, and not even supported by it's own author aka me).

That said, here is a demo and here is the source
Guys really come on, all we ask is the old Editor back, Not something that Ning is not even sure off.
I saw nothing wrong with the Old Editor, I mean majority of the Guys here want it back, Including myself.

IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK???? :(
Just to let things clear, the plugin I suggested before is not a Ning recommendation.

It is just an ugly workaround for people like me(that used the old one a lot) to hang on while the official one don't come back ;)

I just wanted to help
Thanks for the help man, but Ning needs to consider bringing the old editor back.
As you said, Yours is Risky & im not willing to chance :)
I attempted to use the SFTP software:

Did I do something wrong?

Has anyone been able to get this to work?

I am behind a firewall --- this may be the issue.

These "How to pages" should be migrated to Youtube videos (Just a thought)
