"Site Editor" going away - Must use SFTP or WebDav to access your network's filesystem after Saturday 5/17/2008

For those of you unfamiliar with the "Site Editor", this was a web based file manager used to manipulate/create/delete files for Ning networks. To help improve security and prevent Network Creators from accidentally deleting files from their networks, we will be disabling the "Site Editor" interface this coming weekend.

Going forward, you must use SFTP or WebDav to view and make changes to your network's file system.

Cheers!

Oh ok, but I haven't been able to access the sftp site editor for a week now. Why is this happing? it says there is an error with the server.
Hi,

What SFTP client are you using and what OS are you running it on? Also, can you please provide more info about the error message?

Thanks!
Derrick
come on why do u have to disable it that was my one way of viewing my neeyworks source code isn't there anyway you can leave this running for creators who are willing to take that chance
i can't figure out how to download it and open it to try and use it
Dustin,

What exactly are you having trouble downloading/opening?

-Derrick
not a good idea - that web interface is really handy!
i went to download it and it downloaded but it didn't make a shortcut on my computer any were and i can't find it in my programs can you help me
If you are taking votes on this, I'll vote against!

SFTP and WebDav may not work from behind a firewall. The Site editor it's simple perfect for working on things on the fly, wherever you are and from whatever machine you're logged into the Internet!!

Anyway, one thing I would nor really do without is the "Content Manager" (http://YOURNETWORK.ning.com/admin/index/manage) I've learned so much just by browsing through it (and crashing a couple of test networks :) ). If you are planning to remove that, please don't!!

Question: will the Roles and URL Mappings go away? I start worrying :)
I was just about to ask the same question.
