Hello Sathya!

Sometimes these features get bumped offline when you use the Manage -> Features tool. To bring them back online just access your file system and open the widget-configuration.xml file for your new feature (in the /instances/ folder) and change the isEnabledByDefault element from 0 to 1.

Cheers!

Having the same problem here! (only managed to fix it by making a new copy of the widget/instances folders with a new name and updating the names in the files for it)

Just checking in, saying this is still a serious problem and the isEnabled fix doesn't work (there's nothing to enable since the value stays '1').

Hey All,

Could you both please post the social network on which you're having this issue? I'll take a look at your code to see if I figure out what's up.

Cheers!

mine is http://ipower.ning.com

I'm keeping my Chat tab by making new instance/widget directories and files for it every time it disappears, a very inelegant solution of course, hope there's a better fix!

Hello Reese!

It looks like you have a lot going on with your social network! I'd recommend that you take a look at your error log (log in as the Network Creator http://ipower.ning.com/admin/index/log) and clear up any issues there. If your network is generating errors its very likely that features will behave in an unexpected way.

I also noticed that you're using Scripts4Ning. This is fine, but please be aware that extensions installed in this way (using output buffer modifications) may have some compatibility issues with changes that you make to your social network. If you run into issues I recommend you try temporarily disabling the extension before diving into deeper troubleshooting.

Also, if you're just trying to add static HTML content to your social network, you may want try out the Pages feature.

Cheers!
Mike

i have exactly the same problem.... Did you find a solution to it?

I created the "hello world" widget and it all worked perfectly. I then removed a feature as described by the first post and now I can't get the Hello World widget to appear in the menu at all - or any other custom menus for that matter....

I am downloading the source code again so I can compare it with what was there before.
