Member Import

I currently have a 50,000 user forum site that I want to transfer to ning. I want to do a mass invite, but I can't see how to import a CSV. Gmail, yahoo, msn have 3000 user import caps, so is there a way to do this? Usually there is a way to do a Thunderbird/outlook import.

I imported 10,000 into gmail, but the ning gmail import isn't finding any contacts. Is this broken, or do i need to allow this in the google cp?

Hi Ryan,

The current gmail import for large sets (6000+) has a known bug causing it to take long and even time out, if you can try it with smaller sets it should be fine.

I just tried it with a 3000 user set, and it failed too. There are no gmail settings i need to make?

if i can export CSV of user data why can't i do an import? While sending a mass invite is nice. I need to make sure there isn't a "land grab" for usernames.

whats to stop a user from receiving an email and then signing up to ning with someone elses name.
for example i recieve an email then sign up as firstname: mike lastname: nicholson ?

I would like to import all members from another site with fields like first name, last name, age, education etc. is this possible using csv format? I searched ning and I do not see anywhere they indicate how the csv format should look like.

any updates on procedures or plans from ning to make mass member imports possible?

we would also like to import our users plus import our entire media library containing thousands of videos.

I can't understand why this feature request has continued to be ignored. We need to import 500 members and without the import feature it's just plain time prohibitive.

Without that I cannot use ning. I must have an API to create users. 30.000! With the same username and password that I already have.

There's no earthly reason to have a thread like this open for 16 months. If there's some underlying architectural limitation keeping Ning from offering this feature, then 'fess up and let us know so we can go find some other platform that does.

Otherwise, recognize that this is an important piece of functionality in corporate environments--into which we assume you'd like to penetrate--and make it happen. Soon.

So, once again, what's the E.T.A.?
