Hi all, I was under the impression that this latest release would include some kind of Wiki functionality. But "Notes" appears to only be yet another way to publish text posts, like blogs and discussions, but without their ability to attach files, allow comments, categories or tags. And isn't there already a Page widget? Hmmm. So I'm confused. Why are notes so cool? What would be cool is if people can edit the same notes document, like, say... a Wiki!
Maybe the Wiki feature was leaked incorrectly? Or is one coming? Thanks so much.
The wiki feature was renamed to Notes because in this first iteration we're not providing the ability for everyone to edit them, and we're not providing versioning. As it stands it is currently very much a replacement for the unofficial pages widget; in future releases we'll be making it more wiki-like.
Phil, does this means that the Pages feature is going to go away? I've used it quite extensively!
Also, are Notes going to support full HTML/javascript as Pages do? I mainly used Pages to embed external contents and this requires scripting abilitiy.
I was wondering when this could be expected as well.....weeks? months? I've seen so may posts on wiki over on Network creators, seems it's been in the agenda for a long time.
Also, I came here looking for the beta function of wiki (from Network Creators) and I can't seem to find it? Would love to see what this thing is going to look like! It'll be an amazing addition to my site if we do get these capabilities!
I would like to know timing also and feature set if possible.

ditto - i've been spending a bunch of time testing out wetpaint, mediawiki, etc. before settling on wikispaces as the best option - however, if ning can add wiki functionality that would be superb as members can just go ahead and contribute.
please let me know the ETA. and whether it's going to be a wiki or just wiki-- .
+1 for versioning and access control, as this is very important for us. If you could provide a ballpark date, we'll know whether to wait or use a different wiki solution.
thanks!
I've heard the rumors too. It would add tremendously to the value of my network if notes worked more like a wiki. I discovered that I can promote other users to admins, and they can then edit notes, but it's still very cumbersome. Have you learned anything since you posted this?
Thanks!
Is there any update on this?
Wikimedia, Wetpaint, or some other system that can be integrated into a Ning site?
I am totally not a developer, don't know a thing about coding etc... But Ning not having a Wiki (although it's been announced so many times in the past that it would get a wiki at some point) really becomes a reason to change to a different system... Which is a pity cos Ning is very very very nice and easy to use.
I am curious to know if you are a Wikipedia contributor or use Wetpaint. It might help push Ning in the Wiki direction if they knew for certain that people actually are active Wiki creators and are patiently waiting for the Ning Wiki.
