Hide Tabs option not a security feature :(

I mistakenly thought that the Hide Tab option would keep non-members from seeing the information on the Tabs but accidentally found that if the Tabs were default ones such as the members tab anyone can get to them by typing in the URL. Is there a more granular way to allow access to the site. Just the Main page or everything is too broad. It would be nice to be able to limit access by Tab.

Sounds like a defect to me. I would enter a ticket for this.
