Can Open Social apps store large'ish amounts of data in their Ning spaces?

Hello
I need to build an application that will be a more sophisticated discussion forum. Ideally, I would like to read and write the data directly to the Ning system. I know, from the documentation, that OS apps seem to be able to store small amounts of data, but the whole API appears to be aimed at only allowing the management of social data. Given that Ning has removed access to the back end PHP, is it still possible to build apps that work directly with the Ning data store, or is that no longer possible.

possible still.

Thats how Im making my stuff, using the Content Store to store data. Probably best served with a database backend though...

That's great to know. However, when I searched for info on accessing the content store, the pages all seem to have been removed (Google Cache still has them). This is the bit I am confused about. What is the current API route to access the XNS. All I am looking for is a link to the appropriate part of the documentation.

I got an answer from Ning help desk. It seems as though what I want to do at the moment is not possible. But, they are hoping to open things up in the future.

Hi!

OpenSocial is definitely the way to go! Currently, the only access available to OpenSocial developers is to the profile picture, and the identification of the viewer and the owner of the application. In the future we want to open up more access to the content store, but this isn't available in this implementation. Feel free to create a sanbox and try it out! Let us know if you have any other questions.

Its not correct. You *can* get to the Content Store, even now. This includes everything - all user data, all content on the site. It is possible, you just got to know how.

OK, I am intrigued. Can you tell me more about how to do this?
