I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your network. If you haven't done so already, can you file at ticket to the Help Center at http://help.ning.com? That way we can aggregate all the help requests in one place.
I contacted the Help Center and got it working: The thing is to set the CNAME redirect with your registrar. In my case I contacted Hostgator and they fixed it.
I'm having the same thing, when i try to browse it, i get an error message. and i can't access my network for a few hour, after that i can access my network but ning.com still show up. anyone help please...
I had purchased the premium domain service. From what I read, all I had to do was setup the cname record and everything would be 'done'. Done in my understanding at the time was that my old ning.com subdomain where my community resided would point to the full domain.
But three weeks went by, and both domains operated simultaneously, no redirection.
So, I checked into what else I may have missed, what else I needed to do.
I found this short little 'easy' tutorial, or so they claimed in their Wiki called Easy Domain Redirection.
Easy ha. I changed what I thought I should from the little drop down, to point my old subdomain to my full address. I go to check my site....! Broken! Ok, don't panic. Surely Ning has setup a system within that link in the Domain Redirection to restore things to the way they were. Uh, nope. Not at all.
I kept getting this error messages no matter what domain address I selected.
"That domain name does not seem to match this network. Please choose another domain name."
I don't expect Ning to be at their computers 24 hours a day. I am a reasonable person. But I do think that they should have systems in place that you can correct something that happened until more support can be had. My network now is going on 11 hours of downtime because I am waiting on a response to the ticket I filed.
There is no guarantee that this ticket will be even found in a reasonable time from the 800,000 networks that surely are emailing for support as well. The fact that they have support is a strength, but again, systems should be in place to revert and prevent from major outages.
All this may be argued that Ning is now offering a premium support system coming out in about 10 days or so. Great, that doesn't help me now. Why doesn't their help section have a label at least of 'Urgent' or something? This could be abused I know, but surely 40-50% of the submissions wouldn't take advantage of this and some questions would float to the top quicker.
And even with the premium support, unless it is live chat, I still think systems of reversion should be in place. 11 hours of downtime based on a feature that is giving me a non-descript error message really is not a well designed feature at all.
This is an issue caused by your actions in your domain panel controlled outside of Ning. That being said, can you please tell me who your registrar is? I am familiar with many. I may be able to help you.
I have the same problem as you. Have you obtained the solution?? i have revise few questions i think that will be very productive if you include the solution...
