Integrating Ning subdomain with home page

I'm having a first go at integrating Ning (registered as a subdomain of my site) with the other parts I host elsewhere. It does not seem that easy without using the full API. All I need is an obvious link to the home (index.html) page, but the only way to do that seems to be to add a tab (you don't seem to be able to add a link to the logo or Title). Also the tab is not allowed to be the first tab.

Any ideas?
