Ning Developer Network

I'm planning to create a Digg/Reddit-like section on my network. Trying to figure out what the best way would be to go about it... Obvious choices to me are running Pligg on a different server and somehow making the connection on the Ning site, or even just somehow working with a subreddit (you can create 'subreddits' now) and integrating that with iframes or something... Any thoughts?

Hello Reese!

If you're running on your own copy of the source code, I'd probably just add this as a new feature to your social network. We don't have any tutorials that cover this specificaly, but the Hello World and Advanced Member Search tutorials should get you started. Remember, Ning is a powerful development platform as well as a place to host your social network.

Cheers!
Mike

reddit went open source on Tuesday, June 17, 2008.

reddit - despite a less-than-glowing review of our decision to open source, TechCrunch spent the same morning downloading our code and creating their own reddit clone, TechNews. Nice 180.

Not to be outdone, mixx has made the brilliant move of allowing subdomaining. They call their subdomains communitys. mixxers comments

Here is the reddit code, that has a few steps to install. It would be a clever move if ning were to install this as an option so whenever you start a ning network you can just drag and drop the feature, just like you do now with photos, videos, rss readers, boxes, etc.
