A member automatically adding themselves as a friend

Hi, this is building off of threads I've found so far:

We have one member who is automatically appearing as a friend to newly-admitted members. He is friends of 640 of our 840 members and this seems to be a recent development. (The network has been up for only several months.)

Is there a way for people to automatically add themselves as a friend prior to that friend's approval by me (as administrator)? No, he is not an admin. He is just a 'normal' member like everyone else.

Any thoughts?

They might be using friend adder such as www.eekadder.com but tweaked for Ning.

I would just ask them.

Could be a great Admin tool as well.
