Ning Content, Google and Sitemaps... am I missing something?!

Hey Guys,
I've been working with sitemaps to try and improve our google presence. I have figured this out from a ning prospective fine (uploading the files etc), but one thing has been bothering me. Profile pages like this:

http://www.myvillage.com/profile/az

seem to appear on Google in a matter of minutes! Our own custom pages that we have added to Ning like this:

http://www.myvillage.com/birmingham/places/1545-jyoti-vegetarian-re...

Don't appear for much longer (sometimes weeks).
Does Ning have it's own super sitemap for content it stores centrally like profiles? Or is there some sort of Google "ping" code, hidden in the Ning source code somewhere?
Can anyone from Ning shed some light on this please?

I have noticed the same effect. Notes as compated to Blogs also take awhile to show up in the Google list of Indexed Pages.
