I just recieved my source code, and the email told me to go to FTP and gave me the information, maybe I am being ditzy, but when it says "User ID" does this mean my site name, my email address, or my 4 digit code? I am so at lost on this, I've tried it all and nothing is signing me in...

Thanks,
Melly

Filezilla actually has trouble parsing the login URL because there are multiple @ symbols. For example if your email address is melissa@gmail.com the connection string will be melissa@gmail.com@sftp.ning.com. Filezilla will not recognize melissa@gmail.com as you username and try and connect to the address 'gmail.com@sftp.ning.com' instead of just 'sftp.ning.com'. I haven't found the right combination of quotes to fix this yet so I have switched to winscp and dreamweaver which seem to parse the at symbols in the opposite order. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip Scott! That was really useful.

Do you know if this is a known Filezilla issue? Looking at their issue tracker at http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=21558 I couldnt find, it is probably a good idea to file a bug for that with detailed reproduction steps and a clear description of the problem,

Meanwhile, one thing that might be worth testing is to login using the non-email version of your username, one way to find out is to open your profile page, then look at the html source (Ctrl+U on firefox) and search for a line like this near the "Leave a comment" part:

<input id="xg_profiles_chatterwall_attachedTo" type="hidden" value="27c49xypcekbj" name="attachedTo"/>

The username is the value in red.

Melissa, try using 3eosm543c9zbc as your username.

I was able to utilize Transmit on OSX Leopard without any issues, here's the settings:

Regardless of your network, be sure to utilize sftp.ning.com as your URL, your email address as your username, password as password, and SFTP with Port 22.

I'm still having trouble connecting to the ftp with Filezilla. I'm using my user id instead of the email address for the username but I think that its a network problem. I keep getting

Error: Network error: Software caused connection abort
Error: Could not connect to server

winscp works fine so I'm going back to that, but I think that its strange that Filezilla doesn't work. If anyone gets filezilla working then could you let me know what the trick is? Thanks.

Hi Melissa,

My name is Annibal. I am medical doctor from Brazil and I wonder if you could help me out with this problem I am currently facing.
Yesterday I set up a new social network but somehow for some unknown reason I can't seem to find a way of going back to my network. I have tried to open it a dozen times and the screen in which I used to fill with my PIN number does not show up.
Do you know what should I do ????
I really appreaciatte if you or somebody else from NING could me help me out.
Instructions could also be sent to annibalcoelho@gmail.com and/or to vinylcoverband@gmail.com
Thank you so very much.

The port number, "22" should not be listed with the url. There is box specifically to put the port number "22" and then it should work

Okay, I am having the same problem with Filezilla, unfortunately. (I got my source code today, Mike! Thanks again.) And I thought I would let you all know. Perhaps it is a Filezilla issue. I am going to first try what Frabricio suggested and if that does not work, I'll try the winscp. I'll let you all know what works.

That was quick! Well, I tried finding my non email version of my username, and believe I was successful in doing so. Not sure though, so anyone that is having the same problem may want to try too. So then I downloaded WinSCP and am in. No idea what I am looking at. Haha This should be fun. Hope this helps!
